Another interesting and groundbreaking American succumbs to pancreatic cancer. Sally Ride was the first American woman in space. She lived with her partner for 27 years, and they authored some books together. It always hits a little close to home when another person succumbs to this disease. I have personally met several, mostly women, who, along with myself, are in this small fraternity. When one passes, it is hard not to feel a little diminished, as though a fellow soldier has fallen. May she rest in peace.
